    Job Summary

    • Work as a member of a crew to install new railroad track, maintain existing track and right-of-way.
    • Primary Activities and Responsibilities
    • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
    • Participate in group discussions including unit meetings, job briefings, safety meetings or process reviews. Remove and replace track and track components (e.g. ties,rails, bars, etc.)
    • Replace or repair track switches with specific components
    • Slide and align tie plates
    • Drill holes through rails for insertion of bolts and tighten or loosen bolts at joints that hold ends or rails together
    • Correct deviations in track surface, alignment and gauge
    • Cut rails to specific lengths
    • Receive instructions, requests, orders, and information from posted bulletins, memorandums, rules and regulation manuals
    • Adjust, lift and roll rails
    • Sort track material for loading and unloading
    • Install and repair street and railroad crossings
    • Cut brush and vegetation from the right-of-way
    • Spray switches, angle bars and joints with oil forlubrication

    This is a grant-funded position entitled Early Learning Coordinator - Early Learning Community Based Partnership Grant (ELCBP). Requirements for this position include a Masters degree in early childhood education or a related discipline and an educator certificate. Experience with grant management in a related capacity is required as well as excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to collect and analyze data from multiple sources for grant reporting purposes (e.g. databases, software packages, etc.). Experience with providing support to early learning teachers is required.

    This position will assist in planning and coordinating system-wide program development to include goals, objectives, organization, in accordance with ELCBP grant activities, consult with and serve as a liaison to Smart Start/ELCBP and to the Rockdale County ELBBP Council, ensure grant deliverables in the ELCBP grant, and oversee the GA Pre-K Family Resource Coordinator Grant through the annual application process. Responsibilities include oversight of program evaluation through the Program Quality Assessment Process and the Resource Coordinator evaluation process, coordination of the Pre-K student application, lottery selection, and registration process, oversight of the implementation of the Family Resource Coordination Grant to ensure that eligib le families are receiving services including family literacy development, family involvement opportunities, community resource connection, and effective Kindergarten transition initiatives.

    Other responsibilities include coordination of professional development for teachers, teacher assistants, site directors, Parent Educators, Resource Coordinator, and community early learning providers, creation and supervision of Kindergarten Countdown events, school transition teams, Kindergarten Camps, Neighborhood Resource Centers, and Parent Resource Center, selection and sustainment of early learning based materials and program supplies, data collection and evaluation, and submission of reports in accordance with reporting guidelines and timelines in the ELCBP and GA Pre-K grants and coordination of and collaboration with the ELCBP Public Awareness Campaign.
